The actual Post for 07/22/2013 --- A driving day!!!

Hello Fellow Wandering Travelers!!!

Today, I left the Copper Harbor, Michigan area and drove and drove and drove!!! The weather was nice, but not great – it had bright sunshine, some clouds, was cool, but the wind was blowing all day!!! The wind makes driving very tiring because it pushed the little trailer around which pushes the truck around which makes me tired!!!!

Anyway, I drove from Copper Harbor to US-2 and followed it west through Michigan, into Wisconsin, through Wisconsin and just in to Minnesota. I am staying at a KOA Campground just west of Duluth, Minnesota.

Of course, I didn’t just drive all the time. I would stop at rest stops and walk around to clear my head!!! I stopped at one and was reading the bill boards when I saw that this rest stop had a small hike attached to it. You could hike to a stream, waterfalls and gorge. It was only a few minutes, so off I went!!! The path was well made and in some places, it was a wooden walk. Here are photos of the path ---

Then, I came to the stream ---

Then, I found the waterfall ---

And then the gorge ---

You may have noticed the color of the water --- it has a reddish-brown tint to it!!!??? I was told the color comes from the iron oxide in the ground in that area!!?? Okay, sounds good to me!!! I just won’t drink the water!!!

From here it was back on the road. I think I drove about three hundred miles today!!! I also crossed a time zone. Even though my clock says 11:00, my body says midnight – I am getting very tired!!! Here are some photos from my drive ---

Well, that was my day!!! Very busy, mostly driving, but some interesting and fun site seeing!! I even learned a few things, I think!!!

So, with that, I will go for now, but I will see you all again tomorrow.

Again, to quote that great comedian, Red Skelton, "Good Night and May God Bless!"

Happy Trails ---- Jon
