I am a Mackinaw, MI getting ready to cross the big bridge!!!

Hello Fellow Wayward Travelers!!!!

Today was mostly a driving day! Again, I didn’t want it to be!!!??? Part of my drive was supposed to be along the coast of Lake Michigan and I was planning of being able to stop and take lots of photos!!! But that’s not the way it turned out. As I have said in the past, the eastern states do not have pull outs from their roads!!! Not even the ones that could have some of the most wonderful views!!! I did find one “rest stop” that was on the lake shore, but when I went in there, all it had was a road and parking for a few cars. I couldn’t find any place to pull the truck and trailer over without blocking the road!!! I was going to pull crosswise into the car parking places, but a car zoomed in and parked in the middle of it!!! So, I just drove on!!!

I did get some more photos from the moving truck!!! They’re not the greatest, but at least they show some scenery!!!??? Here they are ---

So anyway, I left the RV Park in Buckley, Michigan this morning to beautiful weather again!!!??? Of course, when I got up at 8:30 AM the temperature was already climbing!!! In fact, when I left the RV Park at 10:30 AM, the temperature was 86 degrees!!! The way I was perspiring, I think the humidity level must have been at 80-90% or more!!! I just checked out the humidity level for this morning and it was 92%!!! Again, the temperature kept climbing to above 90 degrees and stayed close to 90 the rest of the day depending were I was at!!! Like I said, in an air conditioned pickup, looking outside, the day looked just beautiful!!! I just didn’t move outside too much!!!

So, anyway, I continued to drive and made it to my RV Park. It is the Mackinaw City KOA just outside of Mackinaw City, MI. I have settled in for the night and I am putting together a plan for the tomorrow. I plan on staying here for two nights and seeing the town. I really liked Mackinaw last year and I want to see more of it this year.

Just as I was approaching Mackinaw, guess what loomed ahead of me --- the bridge!!! Here are a few photos of it from the road ---

Looks impressive, doesn't it!!!???

Changing the subject, yesterday, I told you about all the people who just happened to show up at the same KOA as me and they were all from Washington State. Well, I was talking to a couple of them and it turns out that they are from Spokane and live just a mile or so from my Mom!!! In fact, one of them graduated from my high school, Rodgers, in 1948 (a little while before me!!) We are all off doing our own thing again, but we are all going in the same direction – West – so we might meet up again!!!

Speaking of weather, a thunderstorm just rolled through and according to the weather reports, a few more are on the way!! At least the temperature has dropped!!! Most of it seems to be going north of me, so let’s see what happens today and tomorrow!!!

So, with that, I will go for now, but I will see you all again tomorrow.

Again, to quote that great comedian, Red Skelton, "Good Night and May God Bless!"

Happy Trails ---- Jon
