Out of New York, zoomed through Pennsylvania and Ohio, and stopped in Michigan!

Hello Fellow Wayward Travelers!!!!

Today was another driving day!!!

I couldn’t think of anything I really wanted to see on this part of my travels, so I jumped on the freeway (Yes, freeways! I was west of the New York turnpikes, but I hadn’t hit the Ohio toll roads, yet!). When I started today’s trip, I happened to drive close to Lake Ontario and it was such a nice morning, I took a few photos. It was in the town of Westfield, New York. This is at the bay called Barcelona Harbor. Here is a photo of that harbor ---

And of the old light house built in 1829 ---

And of the reproduction of the 16th century three masted sailing vessel, the Sea Lion ---

And a few photos of Lake Ontario ---

This time, you can really get the feel of how BIG this Great Lake is --- its like looking at the ocean!!!

Anyway, once I got started again, here’s how my day went ---

I left the RV Park in Westfield, NY and my GPS took me by Lake Ontario where I stopped for some photos and then I drove from New York State into Pennsylvania and then through Pennsylvania (it’s a very shot state in the northwest portion) and into Ohio. Then I drove and drove and drove until I left Ohio and entered Michigan. Then I drove for just a little while and I came to Petersburg, Michigan where I went to my KOA campground and settled in for the night.

I walked around the campground because it seemed very busy and I was amazed to see all the people – especially families. It looks like this is what a lot of people do on the weekends. This campground has a lot of family things to do – swimming, a water slide, movies, fishing, and the list goes on!!! People were here in anything from tent to great big motor homes!!! They even have cabins you can rent!!!

When I got back to my trailer, a big motor home had come and parked in the campsite next to me. It had California license plates, so I walked over to one of the campers and said hello. I asked where in California he was from, but he wasn’t from California --- he and his friends were from Denmark and they had rented the RV in New York and were driving it to Vancouver, Canada and then to Seattle as their month long vacation. This was the third or fourth time they had taken a vacation like this.

I told them that I was from the Seattle area and that I retired from The Boeing Company. They wanted to see The Boeing Museum (they thought), so I told them to go to the Museum in Seattle, but to also go to Everett and take the tour through the Boeing Plant. They liked that idea!!! We said our goodbyes and I came back to the trailer to put out this blog and plan for the next few days.

Guess what, I found two car museums that I am going to explore tomorrow and an Air Plane Museum that I will explore on Sunday. I am also going explore the Gerald Ford Museum and see if there is anything in there about my father-in-law, who grew up with Gerald Ford!!!

Yes, I will make it to Mackinaw City --- in a few days!!! When I get there, I need to take the truck in for an oil change. Then I will be looking for U.S. Highway 2 again!!!

So, anyway, I made it to my RV Park and have settled in for the night and I have put together a plan for the next few days. It looks like I am done for the night!!!

Well, with that, I will go for now, but I will see you all again tomorrow.
Again, to quote that great comedian, Red Skelton, "Good Night and May God Bless!"

Happy Trails ---- Jon
