Hello Fellow Wayward
Travelers!!!!
I tried to get this Posting into the BLOG on the evening of 07/10/2013, but my computer had other thoughts about that!!! Microsoft decided that my computer needed updating that evening and when it started, there was no using the computer for anything else. So, if this BLOG Post is dated 07/10/2013, everything worked the way I would have liked!!! But, if this BLOG Post has any other date, just remember that if was for 07/10/2013!!! Thank you and read on!!! ---
Today was a totally driving day!!! I stopped only for gas, for lunch and for driving breaks. Since the East doesn’t believe in “Scenic View Points” or “Historical Information Sites” or fun stuff along the roads, I didn’t get much of a chance to stop and gaze at the wonderful stuff I was driving through at 55 miles per hour!!!
But, here’s what I
did get accomplished! I left the RV Park in South Hero, Vermont and drove along
Lake Champlain. It was a warm, blustery day with a scattering of rain. Here are
a few photos that I took of the lake --- I tried to get this Posting into the BLOG on the evening of 07/10/2013, but my computer had other thoughts about that!!! I continued along
until I crossed a bridge that not only took me away from the lake, but out of
Vermont and into New York State. I know that because of this sign ---
I drove only a short
distance before I came to the end of US-2 and the Canadian Boarder. Here is a
fuzzy sign showing the end of US-2 and another showing Canada one way and the
USA the other!!!
I then drove southwest
on US-11 through numerous little towns in New Your State until I reached
Pulaski, NY. This is where I went to an RV Park called Brennan Beach RV Resort
and parked the trailer for the night. Here are a few "scenic" photos that I took from inside the truck as I drove along (okay, its not safe, but what am I going to do???) ---
This RV Park is huge!!! It has over 200 parking sites in it and I would bet half are taken by semi-permanent residents with RVs being their summer homes. It is located on Lake Ontario and has quite a large beach front (thousands of feet)!! Some of the more permanent residents are located there!!! I walked down there to get a good look at the lake because it always fascinates me to see a fresh water lake that has waves like in Puget Sound and where you cannot see the other side!!! The locals are luck it doesn’t have tides or most of them would have been washed away long ago. They do have winter storms that I can see where some damage is done, but nothing like a tide coming and going twice a day!!! Anyway, here are some photos of the beach ---
Here is a photo that seems to look at the other side of the lake and you can make out the tower of a nuclear power plant, but this is the other side of a large cove and the plant is on a peninsula. The second photo is what it looks like trying to see across the lake – nothing but water!!! It’s like being on the ocean shore!!! It’s something else, isn’t it!!!
Again, to quote that great comedian, Red Skelton, "Good
Night and May God Bless!"
