Hello all you Route 66 Fans!!!
Wait! That was last summer!!!! This is a new trip and we're not going to
drive Route 66!!?? We will be crossing Route 66, but we won't drive it (I don't
think?)!!! You'll need a new name!!?? Since we're (Me driving and you following
my Blog as if you are with me) going East to the Atlantic Ocean and we're
following The Oregon Trail ... backwards ... to its beginning ... then
wandering around the Northeastern United States ... then driving back home
along U.S. Highway 2 ... stopping at museums, points of interest, view points,
and campgrounds, getting lost and found again, wandering around ... how about
"Fellow Wayward Travelers"!!??
So, Hello Fellow Wayward Travelers!!!
It's your "Wandering Wayward Traveler" getting ready to take
another road trip in his little Ford Pickup pulling his little Nomad Travel
Trailer.
This year, instead of sending out E-Mails with my journal and pictures
attached, I will be putting everything into a "Blog"!!! This Blog!!!
How's that for something new and technical!!?? At least this won't shut down
your computers like last year (I hope!!!)!!?? And maybe I can add more than
five pictures to each E-Mail (or Blog)!!!
First question - When do we start!!!???
Well, I need to prepare for this trip. Yesterday, I took the little Ford
Truck and got the oil and filter changed, the chassis lubed, the brakes done,
all the systems checked and new tires. I even washed it!!! The little Ford
Truck is ready and waiting to go!!!
Today, I checked the little Nomad Trailer over and re-installed its
batteries.
Tomorrow, the little Nomad Trailer will go to the shop for bearings greased,
brakes checked, tires checked, fluids de-winterized, and all gas and electric
systems checked and approved.
Then, I have some personal things to complete, which will take a couple of
days. I will not go into what they are.
Then, it's time to pack, load the trailer, check the maps and hit the road!!
I am looking at Sunday at about 12:00 Noon as the time I will be leaving home
and heading to my first stop in Oregon City, Oregon.
Are you ready for this??? I am --- in fact; I am getting more excited with
each passing day. I feel like a little kid going on a great adventure!!! Wait
--- I may not be a little kid, but I am going on a great adventure!!! AND, you
all are coming with me!!! WOW!!! Now I really can't wait!!!
Well,
I am going to close for tonight, but I will see you all tomorrow and to quote
the great comedian, Red Skelton, “Good Night and May God Bless!”
Happy Trails --- Jon
