Hello Fellow Wayward Travelers!!!
It's your "Wandering Wayward Traveler" finally on the road and traveling!! In fact, I am now in Oregon!!! I am camped in an RV Park called Pheasant Ridge RV Resort. It’s located in a town called Wilsonville, Oregon. It’s just a few miles from my start (everyone else’s End) of the Oregon Trail. Here’s a picture of my truck and trailer parked in the RV Park.
It’s good to be here, but am I tired!! I didn’t realize how much harder it is to drive my truck pulling the trailer. You have to constantly correct for the trailer wondering all over your lane. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but you have to realize that the trailer is almost as wide as the lane I am driving on, so if it wonders a little bit, you could be in the next lane really fast. And if a truck or trailer is already there, that leaves no room for either of us!! I just have to get used to pulling the trailer and then I will be okay. Remember, I did the same thing last year at this time and didn’t have any problems.
Tonight I will plan my visit to Oregon City and where the museums and tourist information points are. As I have said, Oregon City is the official end of the Oregon Trail, so there should be lots of things to see. I will take pictures and put them in tomorrow’s blog. I can’t wait to really start this Oregon Trail Adventure. That all will happen tomorrow!
This year, I am going to see how many miles I drive. My starting mileage is 70,100 miles. Remember that number and when I get back home we will see how far I drove. I’m thinking that it will be around 10,000 Miles, but we’ll see!!??
Well,
I need to get organized for tomorrow, so I will go for now, but I will see you
all again tomorrow and to quote the great comedian, Red Skelton, “Good Night
and May God Bless!”
There’s more to come, so keep in touch!!!
Happy Trails --- Jon
